Elissa

Owner And Groomer

Elissa is the owner of Something to Wag About. She started the business in May of 2019 with a goal of providing a crucial and needed service to the community. She also opened the grooming salon with hopes of educating peers and clients. She has eight years of experience in the canine industry. Elissa is pet safe CPR & First Aid certificated, Fear Free Certified and AKC Safe Handling Certified. She is also an IPG Certified Professional Groomer. She has certifications in the fifteen coat types and skin assessment for canines from Barkleigh Production.

This makes her a certified aesthetician She has education through Pack Pro, an organization that trains individuals to run doggy daycares. She has also attended many grooming conferences and seminars from Las Vegas to New Hampshire. Elissa is an ocean of information and always willing to share her knowledge. From the beginning Elissa has encouraged her employees to continue their education in the field. She has worked one on one with high schoolers in the area and offered employment after. She is currently teaching an adult education class in Harrington Maine where grooming resources are sparse. Elissa is passionate about ensuring all dogs in the area receive care necessary for quality of life. She is dedicated to improving the life of all canines in the community. Elissa donates her time to groom any SPCA or Ark Animal shelter dog for free. The business has also offered support to local shelters through food drives and event donations.

With her business Elissa has been able to change the lives of hundreds of dogs and humans. Though she is a busy woman Elissa find time to be an active member of her community. She is the secretary/treasurer for the Maine Professional Groomers Association. She ensures Something to Wag About is an active member of the Ellsworth Chamber of Commerce. Without a doubt Elissa is a passionate canine professional and dedicated to her trade. It is under her leadership that Something to Wag About has become the premiere choice in canine care for the downeast region.

Caylee

Caylee is our operations manager. Caylee started at Something to Wag About in 2019 when the business opened. She started as our receptionist and worked her way up to grooming. She has worked in every part of the business including daycare. Caylee is AKC safe handling certified. She is also pet safe CPR and first aid certified. Due to her time in daycare Caylee is certified through Pack pro for group management of dogs. She has attended grooming conferences in Vegas and Pennsylvania. Caylee has one dog, Boomer. She adopted him as her first dog after completing a free SPCA groom on him.

Haily

Haily is our grooming room manager. She comes to us with five years of experience in the medical industry. She has two years of experience in the grooming industry. Her attention to detail and precision make her a wonderful groomer. Her hand scissoring and blow drying skills make her our doodle queen. She specializes in doodles, small dogs and hand scissoring. Haily is pet safe CPR and first aid certified. She is also AKC safe handling certified. She has attended
grooming conferences in Vegas and Pennsylvania where she completed seminars. Haily is the owner of one of our shop dogs Aspen. She also has Murphy her rescue shepard at home. Haily is kind, passionate and always willing to lend an ear. She is an irreplaceable member of our community.

Megynn

Megynn is one of our newest additions to the team. She is trained in all of our bathing processes and is currently learning how to become a groomer. She also works one day a week in our daycare. Megynn comes to us with previous daycare experience. She has training through Pack pro to help her manage large groups of dogs. She has also attended the Pennsylvania grooming conference.
Megynn has shown us her dedication to education by completing high school on her own terms. She is clean, tidy and orderly. Megynn has one dog named Stubby who she brings in periodically for grooming and daycare.

Margaret

Margaret is our doggy daycare manager. She comes to us with five years of experience in the canine industry. She has two certifications through Pack Pro. Allowing her to manage large groups of dogs and monitor their behavior. Margaret is also AKC safe handling certified and has two years of grooming experience under her belt. She is also pet safe CPR and first aid certified. Margaret is currently enrolled in the Karen Pryor Academy for dog training. She is working on completing her dog trainer professional course. Her dedication to learning about canines makes her one of the most educated individuals on our team. Margaret has two dogs Katie and Wilson. Both join us regularly for grooming.

Katie

Katie is our senior bather here at Something to Wag About. She is fluent in all of our bathing processes and products. She came to us from George Stevens Academy. She completed an internship with us and began working after graduation. She has also attended the Pennsylvania grooming conference. Katie is one of the hardest workers we have here. Her fast pace and ability to stay in motion make her a crucial part of our team. Katie has three dogs Niblit, Olive and Ramona who she brings in for grooming.

Noah

Noah is the lead doggy daycare attendant. He comes to us with previous canine industry experiences. He has worked in vet offices and other daycares. He has completed two certifications through Pack pro. Allowing him to manage large groups of dogs and monitor their behavior. He is also cross trained in our bathing processes. Noah is quiet and observant allowing him to notice slight behavioral changes before anyone else. Noah has one dog named Ava. She comes to work with him to participate in daycare. She also visits us on a regular basis for grooming.
